From then till now, it has been estimated that the Play Store has over 3.5 million Android apps and it only keeps going up. The last few months have been no different and the Play Store has got a whole new bunch of apps. From new launchers to great photo-editing apps — it has ’em all. Continuing with our tradition at GT, we are back with a new set of incredibly cool free Android apps for the month of February 2018.
1. Launcher: Flick Launcher
The first on our list is Flick Launcher. Said to be inspired by the design of the Pixel Launcher, this one has all the right elements to up your customization game. Similar to the Nova Launcher, you can customize almost everything. From the search bar and icon sizes to notification badges — you can add your own touch to most of its features. While a majority of the features are free, a few important ones like gestures and voice commands are hidden behind a paywall.
2. Photo Editor: LightX Photo Editor
Another new addition to the Play Store is the LightX Photo Editor. Only a month old, the number of positive reviews speaks for itself. With this app, you can let your creativity run free with its ensemble of tools such as eraser, cutouts, color mix, etc. Moreover, you can set a custom background to your pictures or change the color of your hair, among others.
3. Icon Pack: Darkmatte
Fancy an icon pack with a dark theme? Say Hi to the Darkmatte icon pack. It has 1000+ flat dark icons suited for a wide array of apps. The only issue with this icon pack is that you’d need a custom Android launcher to use it. Thankfully, it’s supported by popular launchers like Nova Launcher, Apex Launcher, Arrow Launcher, etc.
4. Wallpaper: Walloop
I personally feel that the ones who love customizing their Android phones should experiment with different wallpaper apps more frequently. If you’re one who loves doing that, here’s another wallpaper app to add to your list. Going by the name of Walloop, it has an interesting collection of wallpapers. From AMOLED live wallpapers to the conventional Material design-inspired backgrounds — it has them all. The quality is amazing, however, not all wallpapers are free and you may have to pay for some.
5. Utility: Crypto Coins Watcher
If the recent hype about cryptocurrencies has got you all worked up, there’s an Android app to help you with your recent fascination. The Crypto Coins Watcher app tracks the values of these digital assets in real time. It supports a number of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, NEO, Bitcoin Cash, etc. Other than that, you’ll be able to see other details like rank, available supply, etc.
6. Communication: WhatsApp Business
Have a small business to run? If yes, you might want to get the WhatsApp Business app. Unlike the conventional app, this app focuses on business features like quick replies, setting greeting message or setting an away message. Moreover, you don’t need to be a registered business owner to set up a WhatsApp Business account. All it needs is a valid email id and other information like a physical address.
7. Music: Record Bird
If you are passionate about discovering new songs, the Record Bird app will be your new best friend. This nifty app lists all the recent and upcoming music releases as well as recent album announcements. Based on your preferences, you can follow multiples artists so that you’re the first one to know about their releases. Moreover, any such announcements comes with a linked article. Record Bird is a fairly recent app and, until now, it has diligently covered all the recent news from the world of music. However, it remains to be seen how regular it’ll stay in the future.
8. News: Nwsty
The Nwsty app goes by the mantra of less is more. It gives a synopsis of the recent happenings around the world in some 60 odd words. So, if you are one who loves to stay updated, yet don’t have the time for it, give the Nwsty a try.
Bonus App: Rootless Pixel Launcher
The default launcher for Google Pixel phones is popular for many reasons. For one, it’s light and has a large number of features. So, if you want to get the Pixel Launcher on your Android Phone, you’re in luck. Developer Amir Zaidi has ported the app to work on non-Pixel devices. So, no need to root your Android phone. Naturally, this mod isn’t available on the Play Store and you would have to get the apk file.
